One word to sum up Salt Lake City: VIEWS. SLC is unlike anywhere in the USA because of the proximity of the mountains to the city! You can see the mountains when you’re walking on the urban streets, and if you drive 40 minutes you are at some of the best ski mountains in the world. We had an incredible adventure in Utah for the second year in a row thanks to our amazing friends, and we can’t wait to continue this tradition. See my favorite parts of our trip below.
Solitude Mountain Resort
Skiing: Moderate to Advanced
I’m going to be super real here, when I first started skiing I was absolutely petrified of falling and the chairlifts! Seriously, a year ago if you told me I would be skiing out West I wouldn’t believe you. This year I made it my goal to get over my skiing fears. With a lot of encouragement, practice, and trust I was able to ski some of the steepest trails I’ve ever done and had a blast doing it at Solitude!
We got to Solitude on Friday and it was a DREAM because few people were there. I was able to take my time to work my way to harder and steeper terrain without worrying that people would run into me from behind! Solitude has options for moderate skiers wanting to push themselves and advanced skiers. It was the perfect place for a group of us to go because we could all take the chairlift up together and I could take a blue run down while the rest of the crew would take a double black.
Food: Roadhouse

I usually dread eating food at ski lodges. From gross pizza to having zero vegetarian options… it’s just not my thing! I cannot express how excited I was to discover the Roadhouse Lodge. This lodge is only available by skis, located between the Moonbeam Express and Eagle Express chairlifts (which I think is super cool). This lodge serves the most incredible Himalayan-inspired mountain food. I got the vegetarian curry with naan bread, which warmed my soul mid-ski day. An awesome bonus was being able to eat amazing food outside and while ski-people watching.
On the topic of food…
Pulp Lifestyle Kitchen

Want to get fueled up for skiing at the most delicious breakfast spot in SLC that has healthy options? Go to PULP! We came here last year when we visited and haven’t looked for another breakfast place since. We came every morning before skiing! It’s perfect for getting a quick bite or spending a relaxing morning enjoying brunch. I am particularly in love with their açai bowls (the “Nut Job Açai Bowl” is pictured above) and the “Pulp Hash” which is made of Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash. Austin recommends the “Panacea” which was coconut quinoa pancakes made with Greek yogurt, blueberry compote, lavender honey, and lemon zest (yum!).
The Cliff Spa at Snowbird
Rooftop Hot Tub and Pool
After two days of skiing, there is nothing more relaxing than jumping into a heated pool and hot tub. The jets in the hot tub came in clutch for my sore legs! I recommend going before noon because it was empty like in the pictures above. In the afternoon the hot tub and the pool were packed with morning skiers.
Massage

This was my first massage ever, and it was the BEST way to decompress before going back to NYC! The atmosphere was very relaxing, the views were amazing and my masseuse was lovely. I am truly thankful for the experience.
Solarium Relaxation Area

At the end of the spa day to wind down I read the book “Educated” in the Solarium Relaxation Area. This place had cozy couches and large windows that flooded the area with natural light. Couldn’t ask for a better way to end the trip than to read surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
